    Trophy Club, TX

Trophy Club was planned around golf, and it shows. The town grew up around a country club with two 18-hole courses, one designed by Ben Hogan and one by Kathy Whitworth, and golf carts are a normal sight on its streets. It sits on Highway 114 between Roanoke and Westlake, minutes from DFW Airport. I was born and raised in Fort Worth and live about 20 minutes south in North Richland Hills. Here's what to know before you make the move.

Where Trophy Club Fits in the DFW Picture

Trophy Club sits mostly in Denton County, with a small part in Tarrant County, along Highway 114. Roanoke is to the west, Westlake and Southlake to the south and east, and Lake Grapevine to the north. About 14,000 people live here. Typical drive times outside rush hour:

    • About 10-15 minutes to DFW International Airport on Highway 114
    • About 5 minutes to the Charles Schwab and Fidelity campuses in Westlake
    • About 10 minutes to Southlake Town Square
    • About 30-35 minutes to downtown Fort Worth
    • About 35-45 minutes to downtown Dallas

    Golf Course Living

The #1 reason buyers choose Trophy Club is the setting: two championship golf courses, mature trees, and golf-cart-friendly streets.

A Town That's Nearly Built Out

Only a few dozen vacant lots remain, so nearly every home for sale here is a resale.

    Schools

Trophy Club is served by Northwest ISD, and four of the district's campuses sit inside the town: Beck Elementary, Lakeview Elementary, Medlin Middle School, and Byron Nelson High School.

    A few things to know:

    • Confirm school zoning by address with Northwest ISD.
    • The district is growing fast and adjusts attendance boundaries as new schools open. Check the current boundary map before you write an offer.
    • Check current campus ratings at txschools.gov, the state's accountability site.

    What to Expect Cost-Wise

    • Median sale price for single-family homes in Trophy Club was about $825,000 from July through September 2026.
    • Time on market averaged 44 days for homes sold in that period.
    • Property taxes run roughly 1.75% of assessed value in the Denton County part of town, where most homes are. On an $825,000 home, that is about $14,400 a year, or $1,200 a month. The small Tarrant County part runs closer to 2%.
    • The municipal utility district provides water, sewer, and fire service. It has its own small tax, included in the figure above, and bills water separately.
    • Country club membership is separate. Living in Trophy Club does not include it, so price it on its own if you plan to join.
    • No state income tax, which matters if you're coming from a high-income-tax state.

Getting a Feel for the Community Before You Arrive

    • The original golf course sections. Homes from the 1970s through the 1990s, many backing to fairways, with updates that vary widely from house to house.
    • The Highlands. Newer neighborhoods on the north side of town, built mostly in the late 2000s and 2010s.
    • Hogan's Glen. A gated neighborhood along the golf course.
    • Canterbury Hills and Turnberry. Newer homes at the upper end of the town's price range.
    • Parks and the lake. Trophy Club Park on Lake Grapevine has trails and a boat ramp, and Harmony Park and Independence Park are inside town.
    • The town center. Restaurants and hotels at Highway 114 and Trophy Club Drive.

The trade-off is price and age. Homes here cost well above the area median, and many of the golf course homes are 30 to 50 years old.

    Practical Relocation Steps

    1. Decide how old a home you want. The original sections and The Highlands are different products at different prices.
    2. Look closely at golf course lots. Check for stray golf balls, privacy from the fairway, and how close the cart path runs.
    3. Ask about the utility district, the improvement district, and HOA dues. The newer Highlands neighborhoods sit in a public improvement district with its own assessment.
    4. Confirm which county the home is in. The tax rate differs between the Denton County and Tarrant County parts of town.
    5. Inspect older homes thoroughly. Add a foundation evaluation and a sewer-line scope on homes from the 1970s and 1980s.
    6. Get pre-approved early, and ask your lender about loan limits at this price range.

    Who Trophy Club Fits

    • Buyers who want golf course living in an established town
    • Buyers who want Northwest ISD with schools inside the town limits
    • Buyers who work in Westlake, Southlake, or near DFW Airport
    • Buyers who prefer a resale home with mature trees over new construction

    Bottom Line

Trophy Club offers golf course neighborhoods, schools inside the town, and one of the shortest drives to DFW Airport on this side of the metroplex. You pay for it: the median price is well above most of its neighbors, and many homes need updating. Compare the original sections against The Highlands before you settle on a budget.
